Pricing FAQ

Why subscription, not one-time?

IncidentScribe runs on Apple Foundation Models, which Apple updates with each macOS major release. The app needs ongoing maintenance to stay correct as the underlying model evolves and as macOS itself changes underneath it. Subscriptions fund that maintenance window.

What happens during the 14-day trial?

Yearly plans get the full app, no feature gates, for 14 days. Apple manages the trial state — cancel in System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions before day 14 and you're not charged.

Can I switch tiers?

Yes. App Store handles upgrades and downgrades within the IncidentScribe subscription group. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing; downgrades take effect at the next renewal.

Why no Direct download?

IncidentScribe is Mac App Store only. App Sandbox + the App Store privacy badges reinforce the on-device positioning, and skipping Direct distribution lets us avoid running our own update infrastructure.

Refunds?

Apple processes refund requests through the App Store. Use reportaproblem.apple.com within 90 days.

What about open-source maintainers?

A free tier for OSS maintainers is on the roadmap for Phase 4. We're working out the verification mechanism that holds up under App Store rules — in the meantime, both tiers are paid.
